Community Champions - Training local leaders

Program Overview

The Community Champions Initiative identifies, trains, and supports local community members to become agents of change in their own communities. We believe that sustainable health improvement requires local leadership and ownership.

Our Champions are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and resources to identify health challenges, collect and analyze data, design appropriate interventions, and advocate for community needs.

Key Focus Areas

  • Leadership Development: Training in community mobilization, communication, and project management
  • Data Literacy: Skills in data collection, analysis, and evidence-based decision making
  • Health Advocacy: Training to effectively advocate for community health needs with local authorities
  • Peer Education: Skills to educate and mentor other community members
  • Resource Mobilization: Training in identifying and accessing local resources
  • Sustainability Planning: Developing long-term plans for community health initiatives

Program Components

Champion Training Academy

Intensive 3-month training program covering leadership, data skills, health education, and community mobilization.

Community Data Collection

Training Champions to collect and analyze community health data using mobile technology and simple survey tools.

Advocacy Training

Workshops on how to effectively communicate community health needs to local government and health authorities.

Champion Network

Creating a supportive network where Champions can share experiences, resources, and best practices across communities.
