How to apply

The application process for the Research Translation & Innovation Fellowship is designed to identify motivated individuals with a passion for translating research into community impact.

Who should apply?

The fellowship is open to:

  • Graduates and undergraduate students
  • Researchers (at any level) and academics
  • Health professionals and practitioners
  • Program officers and project managers in NGOs and CBOs
  • Policy advocates and community leaders

Note: You do not need a research background to apply — we welcome applicants from diverse disciplines who are committed to evidence-informed action.

Required documents

When applications open, you will need to submit:

  • Completed application form (Will be shared when the application window opens)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume
  • Statement of purpose (0.5 page)
  • Academic transcripts or certificates

Selection criteria

Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Relevant academic or professional experience
  • Demonstrated interest in research translation and community impact
  • Motivation and clarity of purpose
  • Potential for leadership and collaboration
  • Commitment to completing the full 8-week program

After applying

  • Applications are reviewed by the selection committee
  • Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview
  • Final selection decisions are communicated via email
  • Successful applicants receive onboarding materials

When will applications open?

The application window for Cohort 3 will be announced on our website and social media channels. Keep checking the fellowship page and our linkedin channel.

Is the fellowship open to international applicants?

Yes! The fellowship is open to applicants from across Africa and beyond. All sessions are conducted virtually.

How long does the application take?

You should allow approximately 15 minutes to complete the application form and upload your documents.

Do I need a research background?

Not at all. We welcome applicants from all disciplines — including health, social sciences, policy, law, education, and more.

Is there a fee to apply or participate?

There is no application fee at this stage. Participation in the fellowship is currently offered at no cost to selected fellows.
